Stanhope Solar Farm and Battery
The Stanhope Solar Farm and Battery is located in Central Victoria, west of Shepparton.
Featuring a 6.5 Megawatt peak (MWp) solar farm and 240 Megawatt hours (MWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), the Stanhope Solar Farm and BESS will produce enough electricity to power about 16,000 homes.
Engagement with the local community and relevant stakeholders has begun, and stakeholders will be kept informed as the project progresses.
Initial planning documents are expected to be submitted to the Responsible Authority before the end of 2024.
Project Overview
-
The project area spans six-hectares and includes an operations and maintenance building, stormwater infrastructure, lighting, security fencing and a construction laydown area. Batteries will be stored in modular containers similar to shipping containers and will measure about six metres long, two-and-a-half metres wide and six metres high (double stacked).
It is expected to engage about 100 people during the planning phase of the project, roughly 80 people during construction and approximately six people during operation.
